  • Tam O’Shanter

    Los Feliz

    After nine decades, the plaid-clad waiters here have got their traditional celebration right. Although this is really a Scottish pub, St. Patrick himself wouldn’t know it as anything but Irish on March 17. There's live music, bag pipes and an Irish menu featuring corned beef and cabbage all day long. Wash it all down with a pint of the green good stuff.

    The oldest Irish Bar in the City of Angeles, Tom Bergin’s mid-city oasis is a must-stop to raise a glass of green lager on St. Patrick’s Day. Sure, there’ll be plenty of corned beef and cabbage, but there’s also deviled eggs, pretzels and fried pickle chips. Famous for it’s Irish Coffee, Bergin’s caffeinated brew might be just the thing to top off a few of those green drinks.

    In addition to green beer on St. Patrick's Day, District Pub offers a solid list of craft beers on tap with a hearty food menu, including Irish Bangers and burgers from Creekstone Angus beef. There’s a handcrafted vegan burger on the menu, too. Art by local artists on the walls and a neighborhood vibe make this the spot for a relaxed green holiday.     The perfect spot for a true Emerald Isle experience, the entire bar at this venue was brought to Santa Monica from Ireland. Green beer drinkers won’t have to go hungry here: Chef Geraldine Gilliland was named Irish Woman of the Year 2015, and serves up a mean Shepherd’s Pie, a full Irish breakfast, and, of course, corned beef and cabbage. Gilliland is known for her boxty, too—a traditional potato pancake stuffed with veggies or meat.
