Malibu’s upscale Japanese fusion restaurant Nobu has a beautiful interior as well as deck seating right on the ocean. You can order small bites from the bar or have a more formal dinner with sushi options like Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeño, Black Cod Miso, or Ribeye with Truffle Butter sauce. Reservations can be made up to a month in advance for the dining area. The bar area is first come first serve.
Geoffrey’s in Malibu is the place to go for a bit of elegance spectacular ocean views, the restaurant was designed so that every seat has a panoramic view of the water. The menu is full of seafood options, including jumbo coconut shrimp and ahi tuna tartar as appetizers, and sea scallops, prawns, and lobster for the main course. For brunch, options include a shitake omelet with brie cheese and fresh fruit, French toast with fiesta sausage, or a seafood paella.
Paradise Cove is a popular tourist attraction and gets super busy, but locals also enjoy it for the fact that you can dine outside with your feet literally in the sand. The menu is varied to offer something for everyone, with options like fish and chips, paella and a big salad bar. There is a full bar for ordering beach-themed blended drinks, cocktails or cold beer.
Duke’s is a popular spot in Malibu both for relaxed, casual sit down dining and grabbing food and drinks at happy hour in the Barefoot Bar, which is first come first served. The small bites on their menu include buffalo wings, fish tacos, and calamari. For entrees the fish of the day differs depending on what is available at the time, and on the weekends there’s an all you can eat buffet brunch with an omelet bar. The drink options range from blueberry pomegranate lemonade to elaborate margaritas and lava flows.
This American seafood restaurant has a classic romantic vibe, with rows of seating in front of a panoramic window and an outdoor seating area with cabanas and a bar looking directly over the water. The seafood heavy menu includes items like the Chilean sea bass with potatoes, seafood ravioli, a shrimp omelet, black cod with miso sauce and pan seared scallops.
This rustic themed restaurant is literally at the end of the pier in Malibu and it incorporates organic local farm ingredients into the menu. Popular menu items are the fried egg sandwich, chopped salad, chicken ricotta sandwich and the grilled chocolate cake for dessert.
For Mexican food in Malibu, La Costa Mission comes through with authentic cuisine. There are a variety of moles, unique options like duck with grilled pineapple and plantains, crab enchiladas and classics like tamales. For dessert, the caramel churros are worth trying. For drinks, they have unique margarita options, including the red pepper mint margarita and strawberry basil margarita. A happy hour menu is offered from 5pm to 7pm with $5 food options.
For the pizza and burger lovers, Kristy’s Wood Oven & Wine Bar is a great intimate spot with a homey feel to it. The waterside restaurant serves Greek pizza (with the option to go gluten free), blackened chicken pasta with jalapeno cream, mushroom risotto balls and a classic burger with a side of mac and cheese and homemade pickles. They have fun touches on the menu like the pineapple sorbet for desert that is served inside of a scooped out pineapple. Cucumber lemonade is also refreshing and they have a nice wine list.
This spot is more of a hole in the wall dining option, with a pickup food window and a patio with picnic dining tables. Their seafood options include an Ahi tuna burger with fries, clam chowder, fried fish and basic mussel platters. They have a BYOB policy and it’s a great casual place to stop on the PCH after a day at the beach or hiking on the nearby trails.
