Based in the Gardena and Long Beach areas but traveling throughout Southern California, the Slap Yo Mama food truck pays homage to its home turf with a specialty dish named after Snoop Dogg, Long Beach’s most famous rapper.
We caught up with Joe Johnson who owns and operates the truck with his wife Valerie find
out more about the Creole/soul food truck.

Inspiration for the Snoop Dogg Crizto: We did an event at the home of Jamie Foxx, Snoop was there and my wife Valerie turned the traditional Monte Cristo into the monster we now call the Snoop Dogg Crizto.
Has Snoop or any other L.A. rapper stopped by your truck?: Snoop’s people said he was taking the Snoop Dogg Crizto to him while at the Jamie Foxx event, if he had it not sure.
Any relation to Slap Ya Mama seasoning: None at all. Slap Yo Mama is a term that has been down for years. It’s a term of endearment, nothing like it sounds. The highest term you can give the Chef, “Slap Yo Mama!”
