Los Angeles is home to several exclusive, high-end golf courses, but it also boasts a wide range of affordable public golf courses for all skill levels.

Here are five of our favorite public golf courses in LA:

Wilson
Atop Los Feliz near the LA Zoo, Wilson, built in 1923, is one of the older golf courses in LA. From the black tees, the course runs 6,967 yards (73 Rating).  Coyotes and deer are often seen on the course, which is located in a semi forest. Fairways slope mildly in a course that presents a share of par fives. Harding, another 18-hole course, is located on the same grounds. The two-deck driving range, and spacious grill room/outdoor seating area make Wilson a formidable destination in the middle of nature.

Rancho Park
West LA’s Rancho Park is a mature championship course with elevated tees and a unique set of par fives. Though a very busy course, particularly on weekends, on select days Rancho Park does offer twilight and super twilight play. Despite the heavy traffic, the course is consistently well maintained. With its share of obstacles and scenic views, Rancho Park sets a high standard for a challenging public course.

Robinson Ranch
Twenty-five miles north of Los Angeles in Santa Clarita, not far from Magic Mountain, Robinson Ranch prides itself as public club that plays like a private one. With two 18–hole courses encompassing a total of 400 acres, Robinson Ranch is a stunning and picturesque environment to play a round of golf. Changes in elevation and vista views highlight a trip worth taking for golf enthusiasts.

Arroyo Seco
Widely held as one of the top Par 3 courses in Southern California, this South Pasadena course has it all—mini golf, driving range, and 18 holes of play. The course is narrow which presents its challenges. Notable features include a flowing creek and a pond. An added perk is the driving range which is open at night and very easy access right off the 110 Freeway.

Woodley Lakes Municipal Golf Course
Located in Van Nuys, Woodley is an ideal course for beginners. Fairways are wide open and the course is mainly flat. While trees are not as much of a concern, ducks tend to appear in the many water hazards that line the course. Helicopters and airplanes also fly nearby toward the Van Nuys Airport . Still, the mountain backdrop and ease of play makes Woodley a desirable course for a light hearted day of golf.
