After a busy Memorial Day weekend of barbecues, beach crowds and family time, there are still plenty of things to do in LA this week.

What to Do in LA

Wine Tasting in Malibu: Whether it’s on a wine safari through the vineyards or a picnic with a bottle of wine, spending an afternoon with a couple glasses of pinot noir will provide a much-needed romantic escape or afternoon outing with friends.

A movie at Cinefamily: A great family-friendly option, nothing can entertain the under-18 crowd quite like Technicolor cartoons from the 30s, 40s and 50s. Equal parts education and humor, these films will be presented by animation historian Jerry Beck who once served as an executive at both Nickelodeon and Disney.

Massage at One Spa, Shutters on the Beach: Modeled after the tranquil beach cottages of the California Coast, Shutters on the Beach offers indulgent spa services at their One Spa. Make a night of it by booking a room with a view and dining on the patio with the crashing waves as the soundtrack.

What to See in LA

May 28: Ice House Comedy: As the saying goes, laughter is the best medicine. Side-splitting comedians like Rudy Moreno and Chris D’Elia will take the Ice House stage this week for some much-needed comic relief.

May 31: All-Original Hawaiian Music & Dance: Me Ke Aloha Pumehana: If a trip to the Big Island is out of the question, the Me Ke Aloha Pumehana original Hawaiian music and dance concert is the next best thing. Performances include a dance and chant by Hawaii’s Keali`i Ceballos’ Halau Keali`i O Nalani and music by Grammy-winning composer Daniel Ho.

Descanso Gardens: Descanso Gardens’ immaculate gardens, soothing rivers and towering trees provide a picturesque sanctuary for morning yoga classes, outdoor reading or a quiet stroll. The Stuart Haaga Gallery on the grounds hosts frequent exhibitions like “Abstracting from Nature” on display from May 29th to July 28.

Where to Eat in LA

Upscale

May 28: Jazz, Wine and Trivia Benefit at Maggiano’s: It doesn’t get much classier than Italian hors d’oeuvres, jazz and wine at The Grove. Benefiting the Make-A-Wish foundation, this event at Maggiano’s will feature sips from Coppola Vineyards, tunes from Julie Keefe and the restaurant’s signature bites.

Casual

Kitchen 24: Kitchen 24’s come-as-you-are, retro atmosphere is seamlessly translated into their casual, laid-back cuisine. With a menu that serves breakfast all day and night, diners can get a home-style meal without having to wash any dishes.
