Fans of the cult classic True Romance will gather at Burbank’s Safari Inn in May to pay tribute to the film.

Back in 1993, Clarence Worley (Christian Slater) and Alabama Whitman (Patricia Arquette) fell in love. An unlikely pairing, Alabama was a call girl Clarence’s boss hired to show him a good time on his birthday, but they decide to get married instead. Their romance is true, and they fight for it against sleazy pimps and mobsters.

The Quentin Tarantino script calls for lots of violence, including the brutal showdown between Alabama and Virgil (James Gandolfini), a vicious henchman, in the Safari Inn where the lovers have holed up.

The Safari Inn is an actual roadside motel in Burbank and fans of True Romance are invited to show up May 2-3 for True Romance Fest, produced by Sean Healy Presents & Dan Storm Productions.

Guests can either choose to attend an outdoor screening of the film ($35) hosted by Bronson Pinchot (Elliot Blitzer in the film), or spend the entire weekend at the Safari enjoying all its kitschy amenities.

Weekend events include a cocktail mixer with Paul “Marty” Bates (who played pimp Drexl’s bodyguard), a karaoke party, the outdoor screening and Q&A, breakfast with Pinchot and gift baskets of film swag.
