"Play On!"

Screwball Comedy "Play On!" Shows the Funny Side of Theater

An inept theater troupe desperately attempts to make it to curtain despite maddening interference from a pompous playwright in "Play On!" It's a hilarious look at behind-the-scenes turmoil in the vein of "Waiting for Guffman" and "Noises Off". As opening night approaches, the overbearing author of the play keeps trying to rewrite the script, but the wacky cast of characters won't let anything stop them as they try to bring the murder-mystery to the stage. When the author decides to give a speech on the state of the modern theater during the curtain calls, the audience is treated to a madcap climax. Even the sound effects have perfect comic timing in this thoroughly hilarious romp.
