Father’s day is approaching on June 15 with a variety of events to celebrate the holiday. From an afternoon with the LA Dodgers to classic jazz at Playboy Jazz Festival, here are five options bonding with Dad over the holiday weekend.
Dodger’s Tickets

What’s more dad-friendly than a day at the ballpark? Opt in for tickets for dad when the Dodger’s play in Los Angeles on Sunday June 15th against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Before the first pitch, the pregame festival Viva Los Dodger’s will be held at the 76 station near lot six. The festival is free to enter with a current day game ticket and offers live music and the potential for getting player autographs. The performers lined up for Father’s Day are Frankie J and Jungle Fire. After the game there will be a Father’s Day Postgame Catch session. Find Tickets.
Playboy Jazz Festival

The Playboy Jazz Festival returns for its 36th year at Hollywood bowl on June 14 and June 15 with Arturo Sandoval Big Band, George Benson and Los Amigos Invisibles. The festival was originally started by Playboy founder Hugh Hefner and held in Chicago in 1959 before moving to Hollywood Bowl in 1979. George Lopez serves as master of ceremonies.
As always, the Hollywood Bowl allows guests to bring food and drinks, but also offers gourmet food stands, restaurants and even the option to pre -rder a picnic dinner that can be delivered to box seats. The Wine Bar on the top of the hill is the place to go for beer and wine with outdoor seating and a view. Find tickets.

A few days before Father’s Day, on June 12“Jay and Silent Bob Get Old” brings the famous duo to Comedy Store in Hollywood just in time for comedian Jay’s birthday. On June 14,, the club will host 14 comics in it’s main room.
Los Angeles Film Festival
L.A. Live
The L.A. film fest will be in full swing over Father’s Day, running from June 11 to June 19. The 20th anniversary of the event will showcase films, shorts and music videos from more than 30 countries. Tickets start at $11. Clint Eastwood’s Jersey Boys will close the event.
Beer and Brunch
Santa Monica
If brews are Dad’s thing, the Firestone Walker Brewing Company and Food GPS are throwing a Father’s Day “Collabrewtive” brunch at Tiato in Santa Monica. The event will feature local breweries (including Eagle Rock Brewery and El Segundo Brewing Company), coffee roasters (Intelligentsia, Handsome Coffee Roasters) and food stations with popular local chefs (Like Loteria Grill’s Jimmy Shaw.) Tickets start at $65 a person.
