Once stuck on the shadow of the Los Angeles Lakers, the Clippers now regularly sell out the Staples Center thanks to an up-tempo, run and gun offense led by all stars Chris Paul and Blake Griffin and a dynamic mix of veteran bench players. The Clippers are a hot ticket for good reason, but there are still tickets are available in the 300 Level for many games starting at less than $30.
Sitting in the 300 Level is an experience in its own right. The upper level seating at Staples Center offers a sky view of the entire arena, but the venue is still compact enough where binoculars are not necessary. This is also the area of the arena where many fans from the pre-Blake/CP3 era have seats. Fans still stand and many cheer as if players like Matt Barnes and Lamar Odom might hear them.
There are other perks unique to the 300 level. Fans get to ride an escalator that offers a sneak peak at the premier section bar/lounge (seats in the premier level cost $100+). Once seated, the 300 level offers the best view of the many championship banners/retired jerseys hanging from the rafters. Lakers championship banners and retired jerseys of Jerry West, Kareem Abdul Jabar and Magic Johnson adorn the arean. There is also a prime view of Wayne Gretzsky’s retired Jersey. Sadly, no Clippers championship banners or retired jerseys exist.
The 300 level is also a great section for families. In addition to the affordable admission price, the video board tends to spotlight the 300 level more so than other sections. The cameras tend to find youngsters perfecting their “Gangnam Style” even in the last few rows. The spirit continues among 300 level fans whose participation in the wave is near 100 percent. If the spirit is too overwhelming, a spacious outdoor patio that allows smoking is located in the City View Terrace located across from the aisles U25—U28. Concessions are available next to the patio and throughout the 300 Level.
Though not all seat snobs may be converted, the 300 level is the perfect entry point to see the Clippers in action. Pretty soon tickets in the 300 could be the only ones left.
